First Days of School

We had our first year of two different start dates...not just days but by a week!  Kindergarten started a week before preschool did.  Everyone was ready to go back to school and have more to do in their day :-)

Hayden started Kindergarten this year!  It was a tough decision for us but we ultimately decided to send him to the school right by us, where he is doing Spanish Immersion...one day in Spanish and one day in English.  He seems to be enjoying himself and is making lots of new friends!

Meet the Teacher Night
Found his spot and is ready to go!

Time to celebrate day one!
He won the P.E. award the first week of school :-)
Parker started school the following week in the 2 year old class with the same teacher Hayden had...we love her and she loves them :-)  He is going 3 days this year and is loving every minute of it.  He asks to go everyday!

In his class and out on the playground at Meet the Teacher day!
First Day!
Now it is Parker's turn to celebrate!

Colorado Mountains and Our 1st National Park Trip

We took the mountain route to Keystone through the Hoosier Pass rather than going on I-70 through Denver.  It was a little bit over the top as we were driving in fog and rain at 12,000+ feet, with hardly a guardrail to be found!  The way back it was clear and sunny, so a much better experience.

Another view at Keystone
And another!

On our way back home we stopped in New Mexico at Capulin Volcano National Monument, which is dormant at 8,200 feet in elevation, with a 400 ft crater.  It was our first family national park stop of what will probably be many along the way!

Keystone, CO Side Trip

We took a side trip up to Keystone Resort for four days between our time in Colorado Springs.  It was a nice weather change from back home in the heat!!  We are looking forward to going back one day in the winter...it snowed there already a few weeks ago!

This is what greeted us when we got to town...it was clearing from rain and 45 degrees!
Hanging with the buffalo in town.
This is the main resort area...we stayed down by the ski lifts though.
Paddle boat time!
Cleared up in time for our boat ride.
Crystal clear but cold water.
We love all the rivers and streams that flow through all the mountain towns!

There were some neat play areas again!

Heading up the ski lift!!
Top of the Keystone Summit...12,400 ft.

The kids brought their scooters from home for this very opportunity :-)
We met up with our friends we had been staying with in Breckenridge for the evening where they were staying...another great mountain town!  The kids had a blast getting back together and running around town :-)

Walking along the river.
Under a play structure!
These two and their new matching wolfie hats!!
