Christmas at Home

We had a wonderful Christmas. There were fun presents, happy people, and even some beautiful snow. It was so much fun watching Hayden this year get so excited to open the gifts and see what was inside...even if it was someone else's! He has spent the past few days enjoying and playing with all of his new things.

Early Christmas in Tulsa

We drove up to Tulsa to spend the weekend with Greg's family the weekend before Christmas, for come early celebrating. We had a nice lunch with his aunt and uncle and cousin. We also went to visit the aquarium. It took us about an hour to go through, so it was perfect for a two year old. Hayden had lots of fun doing round one of gifts and was super excited to see his Thomas train.

Merry White Christmas

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day with family and friends. Here in Texas we enjoyed a wonderful white one, with over 7 hours of blowing snow on Christmas Eve. Hayden still wouldn't play in it, FYI!

More Holiday Happenings

Over the past couple of weeks we have had more fun holiday "stuff". Granted I should have done this last week when it was more relevant time-wise but you know how that goes! It is currently snowing, so I had some time before the evening festivities.


Over the second weekend of the month we went to a festival at our church. It was pretty cold but there were a lot of fun carnival type games, pony rides, and train rides. Hayden had so much fun riding the pony!

The next day, on Saturday morning, we were in the town Christmas parade. Again it was very cold, but Hayden enjoyed waving at all the people watching and of course looking for dogs. Then later in the day we went to the town festival and Hayden sat next to but not with Santa. We were worried after our 30 minute wait he would change his mind but it went well!

Last week Hayden had his party at his school. He wore is grown up clothes to celebrate! There is not much to a party for 1 and 2 year olds but it was cute, until one of his teachers tried to use mommies camera to take a picture!

Last Friday, we had our play group over for a little holiday party. Hayden, Chloe, Emma, and Alex mostly played, but we also made some cookies and did some gluing for a craft.

Holiday Catch-Up

The past few weeks have been super busy, with all the holiday happenings we have tried not to miss! I'm just going to do super huge post of all of it up until now...aka lot's of pics. From the oldest to the newest...


The Friday before Thanksgiving we went with my mom's group to Casa Manana in Fort Worth. They run the adult theater shows and the children's plays. This year it was "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". Unfortunately, it was not as good as last years production of Frosty, but it sufficed.

That same weekend we went to Southlake Town Square for their big tree lighting. It was a lot of fun. They had all kinds of free activities and free snacks! They also had a train...some people love trains these days.

Then we had brief early Christmas intermission with Thanksgiving in H-town. While we were there we hit up the zoo, which Hayden really liked, until he got tired. We also had a much more enjoyable experience on our second carousel ride. After turkey day, we (and I mean everyone on many trips) spent as many hours as possible shopping. On top of that, you may know that Hayden loves his kitties, and his Mimi has 3 of them. One was kind enough to go on rides in our old wheel barrow and get dumped out when instructed!

Last week we spent the morning and then the evening the next day checking out Main Street in Grapevine. They have all kinds of fun activities. In the morning, we went on the North Pole Express. The kids all wear their jammies and go on a train ride full of songs, stories, and Santa of course. There was a bit of a wait but then Hayden had a blast on the 'choo choo'. During the day the main street is lit up and they have characters and and activities going on. After dark, they have a light show synchronized to music. Hayden was very impressed and excited about that.

So, I debated about a gingerbread house this year...then I saw the tree option and figured that would be a good place to start. It was very quick and easy, if anyone is looking for something fun to do. Hayden and Greg did a good job placing the colored balls, and there was delicious frosting to lick from spatulas!

This week we went to Northpark Mall in Dallas, the best mall ever if you are interested :-), to see the Trains at Northpark. Every year they have a huge set up of electric trains that depict various scenes from all over the country. Hayden and his best friend Connor had so much fun just standing and watching them go all over.

Yesterday we had my mom's group holiday party at one of those bounce house places. Pictures are too hard to get through the netting but here are some of friends dancing before jumping and then at snack time with cookies, milk, and Santa.




I think that covers us up until now. We are off to more activities tonight and then again tomorrow morning and afternoon!

First Snow of the Season

Here on only the 2nd of December we have had snow, and more is forecast for Friday afternoon. It came down pretty good, for Texas, for a couple of hours. By the time Hayden was up this morning, it was just a light shower, but about 1/2 an inch had stuck to the grass and on any raised surface. It melted rather quickly, as the day warmed to the 40's.

Bundled and ready...maybe.

I'll say he wasn't a fan. He's not one for change or things being different. We'll try for more action next time. More catch up to come tomorrow!
