Colorado Springs Fun

We spent the last week of July/first of August on Colorado.  We split our time between staying with our dear friends in Colorado Springs and a 4 day getaway to Keystone.  It was a great break from the summer heat, and of course we got to see out friends!!  The kids all had a great time together, and we tried to get in a few tourist trips :-)

We spent the first couple days catching up and relaxing with our friends.  On our way out of town we did the Cog Railway up Pikes Peak.  Greg and I have both done it when we were younger, and it is a definite must do!  It was a little long for Parker but he slept on the ride back down the mountain ;-)  It didn't snow while we were up there...it did once in July when I was younger!

The view from our friends backyard!
Heading up

From the top at 14,000 ft.

It was cold but not super cold!
Since the elevation is so high there is of course no plant life but lots of rocks are a great home for big horn sheep...he's there just look close!
On our way back from the mountains we stopped to check out Garden of the Gods...another place we had gone to growing up that is a must see!  The kids enjoyed climbing around, and it is just a neat sight to see.
